Inspire Neurocare Worcester finds inspiration in the Queen on International Women's Day

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II topped Inspire Neurocare’s International Women’s Day poll

Residents and staff voted for the most “Inspiring Women 2022’ in a special survey celebrating the achievements of women around the world. This year, The Queen received the most votes. Her Majesty The Queen will make history by becoming the first monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years on the throne.

International Women’s Day, 8th March 2022, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

Residents and team members, including specialist nurses, therapists, and carers from the service voted from a list of 10 Inspiring Women chosen for their unique skills.

This list included COVID-19 vaccine inventor Dame Sarah Gilbert, TV Chef Nadiya Hussain, Climate Change Campaigner Greta Thunberg, Former First Lady Michelle Obama, and Homelessness Campaigner Laura McSorley.

Second in the vote was award-winning TV presenter Kate Garraway as their next most inspiring woman. Kate proved inspirational thanks to her campaigning for the many thousands of families whose lives were affected by the pandemic and her dedication to her husband, Derek Draper, who has suffered severely with Covid 19 and continues to recover. Kate Garraway now combines her TV role with caring for him at home.

Dawn Adams, Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coordinator at Inspire Neurocare, helped co-ordinate the survey at the home and said residents and staff alike had been inspired.

"International Women’s Day is about recognising the important contributions that women from all different countries and professions have made, so we’re delighted to be a part of that celebration.

The people we support here often face a long and challenging journey of recovery and rehabilitation after severe injuries or due to neurological conditions. Inspire Neurocare is named because having the inspiration to reach personal recovery goals is an enormous part of people's journey. Having conversations about the inspiring women around us got us all thinking about how we can inspire each other to achieve more.

Everybody in our poll is inspiring but there could only be one winner!”

Tim said, "I chose The Queen because she is pretty and I look up to the Royal Family. Congratulations to the Queen!”

Stuart said, “I admire and look up to the Queen, she is a good leader.”
