Two Inspire Neurocare Centres Named as Healthcare Design Award Finalists

Two Inspire Neurocare neurological centres have been named finalists in the Healthcare Design Awards, in the Best Specialist Care Design category.

Fernhill Neurological Centre in Farnborough and Meadow View Neurological Centre in Basingstoke feature spacious en-suite bedrooms, wide corridors, beautifully designed lounges, generous outdoor areas, balconies and adaptable layouts that meet complex and evolving needs. Technology is used thoughtfully to enhance independence - from voice-activated lighting and automated windows to accessible kitchen equipment and ceiling-tracking hoists that support safe mobility and everyday activities.

One resident captured the impact of these features: “I didn’t realise how much the environment would matter until I moved here. The counters rise and lower, lights respond to voice command, and it all feels natural, not clinical. Making breakfast on my own again felt like a milestone I never thought I’d reach.”

Families recognise this difference too: “The first thing everyone says when they visit is, ‘It doesn’t look like a care centre.’ It’s warm, full of light, and beautifully finished. Every detail has clearly been thought through.”

Therapeutic spaces are integrated throughout each centre. Fully equipped physiotherapy gyms, dedicated therapy rooms, sensory environments and rehabilitation kitchens help people rebuild functional skills, confidence and independence. Communal areas — including cafés, art rooms and sociable lounges — encourage engagement and connection, while quiet spaces provide calm and structure for those who benefit from a lower-stimulus environment.

Outdoor areas are designed for year-round use, with terraces, level pathways, raised beds and landscaped gardens supporting movement, wellbeing and social interaction. Many bedrooms open directly onto safe garden spaces, giving people immediate access to fresh air and nature.

The wellbeing of colleagues was also prioritised in the design. Modern staff facilities, staff spaces and comfortable rest areas contribute to morale, retention and the consistently high standard of care delivered across our services. The buildings have also been used by our health colleagues and partners, offering flexible spaces for NHS and community teams to use for meetings, training and shared initiatives - strengthening local pathways and integration.

We look forward to the awards ceremony in February 2026.
